Anthony Coggins Obituary, Death – Anthony Patrick Coggins, a dedicated and beloved member of the Grand Blanc community, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Ascension Genesys Hospital. He was 51 years old. Born in Flint, Michigan, on December 5, 1971, he was the cherished son of Dale and Janet Coggins. On June 21, 2003, he married his beloved partner, Kristy Kozloff, at St. John Vianney.
Anthony’s life will be honored with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. John Vianney, located at 2415 Bagley Street, Flint, with Father Thomas Firestone officiating. Following the Mass, a cremation ceremony will take place. Those wishing to commemorate Anthony’s life are encouraged to make contributions to St. John Vianney Parish in lieu of flowers.
An individual who valued education and the power of learning, Anthony was a cherished teacher at Holly High School, known for his dynamic and engaging teaching style. He held a deep passion for history, and his enthusiasm for education extended beyond the classroom. Anthony’s love for music led him to work as a DJ, and he enjoyed singing in his free time. Additionally, he was recognized as the “Voice of the Holly Bronchos” and contributed his talents to the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) and the University of Michigan (U of M).
Anthony’s legacy will be carried on by his loving family, including his wife, Kristy, and their children, Emma and Bradlee. He is survived by his parents, Dale and Janet, as well as his sister, Lynnette. He will be dearly missed by his mother and father-in-law, Jan and George Kozloff, his sisters-in-law, Karyn Kozloff and Kat (Garrett) Mason, and his nephews, Wyatt and Emmett Mason.
Anthony was preceded in death by his close friend, Father Paul Schwermer. Friends and acquaintances may pay their respects during the visitation hours from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the Swartz Funeral Home, located at 1225 West Hill Road. On the day of the Mass, Anthony will be at the church starting from 10 a.m. until the commencement of the service. He will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.
