Gen. Jack Keane is a former Army general who served in the United States Army. He has also served in the United States Army as Vice Chief of Staff.

In addition, Jack has been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In addition, he works as a national security analyst.

Keane is the chairman of the Institute for the Study of War at the moment. Aside from that, he also serves as chairman of AM General.

Early childhood development and education

Keane, the son of Elizabeth (Davis) and John Keane, was born in Manhattan, New York, in 1943. Ronald is his partner.

Keane graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Fordham University, where he was a member of the Pershing Rifles. After that, he went to Western Kentucky University and earned a master’s degree in philosophy. He went on to the Army War College and the Command and General Staff College after that.

Military service

Keane was a paratrooper in the Vietnam War, serving as a platoon leader and company commander. The Combat Infantry Badge and the Master Parachutist Badge are also available to him. Later, he participated in US operations in Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, and Herzegovina, and Kosovo. The 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, 101st Airborne Division, and XVIII Airborne Corps are among his commands.

During a live-fire exercise in 1991, Keane saved David Petraeus’ life. Petraeus was fired, according to Keane “I had to fight to save his life because he was standing right next to me by mistake. He had a quarter-sized hole in his back that was gushing blood, and we stopped the bleeding, got him on a helicopter, and took him to a surgeon, and we’ve been kind of bonded since then.”

In 2003, Keane stepped down from the military.

On March 10, 2020, President Donald Trump awarded Keane the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The Fordham University Distinguished Alumni Award, the USO 2002 Man of the Year award, and the Association of the United States Army 2001 Man of the Year award are among his civilian honors.
