Gen. Jack Keane is a former Army general who served in the United States Army. He has also served in the United States Army as Vice Chief of Staff.

Early childhood development and education

Military service

Keane was a paratrooper in the Vietnam War, serving as a platoon leader and company commander. The Combat Infantry Badge and the Master Parachutist Badge are also available to him. Later, he participated in US operations in Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, and Herzegovina, and Kosovo. The 1st Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, 101st Airborne Division, and XVIII Airborne Corps are among his commands.
During a live-fire exercise in 1991, Keane saved David Petraeus’ life. Petraeus was fired, according to Keane “I had to fight to save his life because he was standing right next to me by mistake. He had a quarter-sized hole in his back that was gushing blood, and we stopped the bleeding, got him on a helicopter, and took him to a surgeon, and we’ve been kind of bonded since then.”
In 2003, Keane stepped down from the military.

The Fordham University Distinguished Alumni Award, the USO 2002 Man of the Year award, and the Association of the United States Army 2001 Man of the Year award are among his civilian honors.
